About the work of Carlos Araújo:

The Bible has several different versions in more than 2,000 languages, and is the most read book in the world.
Now, in the app “The Bible in 1000 Pictures - biblical texts from CNBB”, there is the presentation of as yet unpublished pictures inspired by passages from the Bible, from the Book of Genesis through to the Book of Revelation, executed by the Brazilian painter, Carlos Araújo. This is the spiritual recovery of a project developed over a period of 30 years.
This immense “Cathedral of Pictures” invites us to indulge in serene meditation towards the understanding of the Word of God and also, through “the eyes, the windows of the soul”, gives us the opportunity to envisage a path of peace and unity between the peoples of this world in this new millennium. The pictures, with their respective titles, refer us to certain verses of the Bible that have inspired the artist, and where the visitor may find, in his or her favourite Biblical version, the texts in their full and unabridged form.

About the Holy Bible - Translation of the CNBB:

In response to the Second Vatican Council, which recommends the access to the Holy Scripture by all faithful (DV, 22:25), the "Holy Bible - Translation of the CNBB - National Conference of Bishops of Brazil" launched in 2002 at the anniversary of 50 years of the Conference - wanted to give new impetus to the knowledge of faith-based memory, and to the deepening in the faithful’s life and of the Ecclesial communities scattered across this vast country.
It is based on the original texts in Hebrew and Greek. It should be noted that the Bible follows the model of the official translation, the "Nova Vulgata," a Latin translation promoted by the Council and by the more recent Popes.
Printed in two columns, in clearly legible typeface, the text is divided into explicative blocks containing descriptive subtitles, the reading key situating the text to its context, and generous references to parallel texts.
The work is presented as a reference translation for the Catholic Church in Brazil, and is intended for individuals and communities’ reading for the catechism and preparation of the liturgy, courses, seminars, and personal study.
The texts cited in the Ecclesial documents are taken from this work. The Catholic reader will find in it the complete biblical text that will match the readings proclaimed in the celebration, encouraging the retention, and further deepening the main biblical texts. In this way, the distance between the celebration and the reading / studying of the Bible is reduced.
